Police: Constable shot after sex with prostitute

HOUSTON — An off-duty Harris County deputy constable was fatally shot earlier this week following an argument with a pimp over money after having had sex with a prostitute, according to court documents made public Friday.

Capital murder charges have been filed against Lee Eldridge Sonier, 31, the alleged pimp, and Judy Lucille Hambrick, 40, the alleged prostitute.

Sonier, who had been previously questioned but released, turned himself in to police on Friday. Hambrick, who had previously been arrested, does not have an attorney, according to online court records.

According to a probable cause affidavit released Friday, Hambrick performed a sex act on 47-year-old Deputy Constable Ronnie Earl Brewer in his car around 1 a.m. Tuesday in northeast Houston.

My first reaction, of course, is the loss of life is terrible. Ugh. Didn't say whether he had a family but I'm sure someone, somewhere, is mourning the loss of this husband, father, brother, or son.

But it makes you wonder, a deputy? Shouldn't he have known what the street scene and the "dope houses" can lead to? Why would he take the risk? This is Houston, where extras are available in every strip club. Go there, at least, where it's a bit safer.
