I've heard about this classic novel for many years and have finally read it.

Of course it is considered a 'classic' of literature. However, I did not know it would have such a fantastic theme as the premise of the book.

For anyone who is not familiar with it, the idea is that a young man has a portrait done of himself. The portrait begins to age while the young man stays young. The interesting part of the story is how this phenomenon affects the young man's behavior. The behavior he has after discovering that the portrait keeps him young is outrageous and entertaining.

As a bit of trivia, the dashing young guy in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was been based loosely on Dorian Gray.

Come on folks, lets get this category active. I know you folks are some intelligent and literate people. If a backwoods hick from Kentucky can read a book - you can also.

I read this when I was twelve. I had made it my goal to read every classic I could get my hands on. I have forgotten all the story. Maybe it's time I read it again. Moby Dick and War and Peace stopped me. I kept skipping over the boring parts, and found myself at the end of the book! So much for the comprehension of a twelve-year-old. I usually had five books going at any given time. Dorian Gray - League of Extraordinary Gentlemen...yes, I do need to read it again, thank you!
